Sziget International Talent Contest
On the first day of the festival 10 national contest winners from all over Europe will play at Szigetfestival in the International Talent Contest. The U.K. band will be chosen through Surface Unsigned Festival.
We are very excited to announce we will be running the 2010 Surface Unsigned Festival in Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, London, Brighton and Portsmouth. In 2010 events will be held in the North (for bands from Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, North Wales), the Midlands (for bands from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Derby, Oxford), the South (for bands from London and Brighton) and the West (for bands from Bristol, Cardiff and Portsmouth) making it the biggest event of its kind. The preparation for the Surface Unsigned Festival 2010 is now in full flow – and there are some amazing new changes happening in 2010. We have new prizes, new sponsors, new rules, new venues and new teams running Surface Unsigned shows up and down the country. Year upon year we have seen record numbers of applications coming in from unsigned bands from all over the U.K. and beyond. This year’s interest has been phenomenal; we are well over 10,000 applications this year already. The quality of the bands that have applied so far for 2010 has also been amazing !! Surface Unsigned 10, is brought to you by Zimbalam, the world leader in digital distribution of unsigned music worldwide. For bands that reach the final stages of the festival, both Surface Unsigned and our sponsors will award the best bands with Industry Showcases, Recording and Production Deals, Professional Photo Shoots, Cash, Endorsements and much more. The prizes for 2010 are in excess of £60,000. The top 16 bands in 2010 will play an industry showcase at the Indigo2 (based inside the o2 arena, London). Our industry panel is headed up by Jon Brookes, the founding member and drummer of ‘The Charlatans’. Since forming the world famous band ‘The Charlatans’ in 1989, Jon Brookes and his band have released 14 albums and 31 singles worldwide and have been going strong for over 20 years. Other industry guests at Surface Unsigned have included representatives from Polydor, Geffen, Universal, One Little Indian Records, Boy Wonder Records, Sunday Best Records, Mercury Records, Audio Authority Management, Revolver Records and Weekender Records amongst many others. The prizes will be distributed between the top 3 bands as decided by the judges (who carry 75% of the vote) and the public (who carry 25% of the vote via a text vote).

Music Live @ N.E.C was a massive success and we would like to thank all of the bands that performed at the Surface Unsigned Bar over the weekend.
